As I was listening to this beautiful composition a question formed. All through this piece it was stressed that we should be praying for God’s Kingdom to return, that the Father would send Jesus back to the earth to take His position as the Ruler of the earth.
But that confuses me a little because the bible also says that there is a plan in motion that the only reason that God will send Christ back sooner is to keep mankind from destroying themselves if he did not.
So why should we be asking for Christ to come back sooner.
Even the prophet Amos made mention of people wanting the day of the Lord to hasten when it would bring such devastation to the world when it arrives.
Amo 5:18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.
Amo 5:19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.
Amo 5:20 Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?
And yet even the Lord’s prayer starts off with us “Thy Kingdom Come”. Perhaps it is just that God wants to know that WE His people, want to see His kingdom come. Certainly none of us want to go through what is going to come on this earth before He arrives and yet that very event is what signals our salvation and our resurrection to ETERNAL Life.
Certainly it is something we should all be looking forward to no matter what hardships precede it.
Luk_21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
At any rate it is an excellent musical presentation regarding prayer that we can all enjoy and appreciate.
