I was reading what Paul said about tongues;

1Co 14:5  I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

Look at what this is saying. Apparently, people who spoke in tongues did not understand what they were saying. they weren’t speaking in a language in their mind that they understood otherwise they could have interpreted it themselves. All of a sudden they found themselves speaking in a language they did not understand. They did not understand. They did not even understand what they were saying.

That is why Paul said that tongues were for them that believe not and not for the believer. It would be amazing for a non-believer to hear his language being spoken a miracle if you will.

1Co_14:22  Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.

Do you folks see it this way? I am curious about this and what Paul meant about praying in the spirit. There is much to this topic that I do not understand but would like to know more. Any articles or audio that covers this would be helpful. We might even be able to publish it here for our readers and listeners.
