The work that Christ is doing in the Laodicea ERA of the Church is a reach out to each member of the body of Christ to reestablish our commitment to Him and our calling.
Rev 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Repentance has always been the key to our conversion. That first love that comes hand in hand with repentance and God opening our minds to the truths of God’s word is the zealous attitudes that Christ is looking for in us today.
We are standing on the cusp of a major prophetic event. Very soon now, the world is going to be plunged into a whirlwind of disasters. It has been building for a long while and our nation is not going to be saved out of it this time. These major disasters are going to cause the rise of the political and religious powers that are described in the pages of the book of Revelation.
Christ says that many of this ERA of the church will be cast into this time of Great Tribulation because they have this lukewarm attitude of self satisfaction.
Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Rev 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
In Matthew 25:1-13 the story of the ten virgins indicates that as many half of those that have to go through the Great Tribulation that is coming on the whole world will make it. Many of these people of God will fall spiritual and will lose their eternal lives.
When you think about this and see what Christ is asking us to do in Rev. 3:19-20 it becomes obvious what the work of Christ is in this ERA.
In the Philadelphian ERA, Christ opened a door so that the Complete Gospel Message could go out to the world and especially to the nations of Israel so that they had the opportunity to repent and avert the disasters that were even then beginning to build up. But that was directed to the Israel and the world as a witness and warning.
Now in this next and final ERA of the Church AGE, Christ is reaching out to His people that were called to be first fruits in His Kingdom. Christ is showing His love by reaching out to them to wake them up to get them to see the danger they are facing and to realize how close it is.
Laodicea is full of teachings that are a mixture of true and false ideas. There is much confusion about where we are in prophecy. This alone can make a difference as to our readiness for what is ahead. For instance if we still think that we are taking the Gospel to the world as a “witness” as Mr. Armstrong did, then the end cannot come yet. Mat. 24:14 is the end time sign that the end of the age is upon us. If we do not think that has been accomplished then we do not feel that sense of urgency that we should otherwise. It is this mixture or right and wrong that is being taught that contributes to our lukewarm attitudes.
In Mr. Armstrong’s day we were focused on the prophetic fulfillments that were coming and it keep us aware of our spiritual condition and readiness for what lay ahead. Now many of us have lost that sense of urgency that we had then. And that in itself is a danger.
Mat 24:46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.(watching)
Mat 24:47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
Mat 24:48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
Mat 24:49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
Mat 24:50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
Mat 24:51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Many of us have stopped watching because it seemed the Lord delayed His coming. We have begun to eat and drink with the world. We have lost that sense of urgency that came with a knowledge and awareness of the prophetic warnings given to us. Like the Virgins of Mat. 25 we have fallen asleep. Christ’s work therefore in the ERA is to wake us up so that we can once again be watching with a zealous attitude for what is coming.
In the Song of Solomon chapter 5 (sos 5:1-7) we see a story of the bridegroom knocking on the door of His betrothed bride. She is asleep and delays coming to the door until He has left. Because of that she is accosted by the city guards and suffers. It parallels the story of the ten virgins in Matthew.
So again look at what Christ says He is doing in Laodicea. He is knocking on our doors to wake us up! He wants us to be awake and ready to answer the door to the bridegroom immediately. It seems to me that only those who hear His knock in time and respond to it by rising up and becoming aware of what is going on will be accounted worthy to escape what’s coming.
I hope that we can all rise up and wake up in time to get ourselves ready for what is coming. We have to be committed to Christ, we have to be ready for what ever the Lords thinks that we need to go through. Do you think that if you are not willing to give up your life for Christ that you would be worthy to escape? If we are so focused on the world that we don’t want to give it up, so that we make excuses like the bride in Song of Solomon to not rise up and open the door then like her will will also find our selves left behind and forced to go through the Great Tribulation.
It takes a GREAT commitment to God and Christ to be able to endure what is coming. Even the conditions that lead up to the rise of the end time powers will test us to the limits. Are you ready? Have you made that commitment to Christ have you opened your door to let Him in by repenting and regaining that zealous/urgent attitude that comes with the knowledge of where we are and what is coming? Brethren we are standing in front of a on coming massive freight train and many of us do not even see it coming. We must be ready one way of the other. That is the Knock of Christ to Laodicea.
