Rev 3:19  As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Rev 3:20  Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Rev 3:21  To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

Many people read this message to Laodicea and understand that Christ is asking His people to Repent anew and become Zealous. But in the preceding scriptures in Revelation 3:8   I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. They fully understand that there was a work to do that was not part of the work emphasis for Sardis or any of the others.

They see Christ at work and the church following His lead and helping Him accomplish the “Witness” work of Matthew 24:14. Yet when they see Christ working with individuals in Laodicea, they seem to not see a work that they can be a part of.

Take a look at this article from Mr. Armstrong True Spirituality What is it? Do you know? it accurately describes what Christ is doing. How He is knocking on your door and what you are supposed to do about it.

So is there a part for the church, the ministry to play in this work that Christ has set His hand to do? There is indeed. The Ministry leaders of each group large or small of all of our church groups hold the role of porter. Mar_13:34  For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
Joh_10:3  To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.

To me this says that it is the ministry’s job to understand what Christ is doing and to put their hands to the plow to help Him. That is what Mr. Armstrong did. He understood about the open doors and the witness work and moved the church to accomplish the task given Him. We need to be doing the same in the ERA of the Church. As you will see it gives us an interesting parallel in how God is using us in this work.
