The word tells us that we should be redeeming the time that we have;
Eph 5:15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
Eph 5:16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Mr. Maschio used to have a video broadcast named seize the hour. It referenced the scripture above about redeeming the time. Time is important to us and it becomes even more important how we use it.
Many of us kind of slip into an auto pilot mode of living. We go through well worn motions of living without having to give much thought to what we are doing or why. The pace of this world is way too fast. We don’t take the time to really enjoy what we are doing.
Notice what Solomon had to say about it;
Ecc 9:10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
Here is the recipe for living in the now.
Notice how zeal is missing in this age. You have to have zeal in order to live in the now.
Living in the now means that we have to slow down the pace of our activities. We have to take the time to look at what we are doing.
Laodicea is essentially being accused of be self satisfied with what they are and what they have. They say they are rich and have need of nothing. But I have heard Mr. Armstrong and others use the quote “familiarity breed contempt”. Have we been so close to the TRUTHS of God’s word and the knowledge of His Master Plan for humanity, that we don’t truly appreciate it anymore?
This web site has one overall goal and that is to wake as many of God’s people as possible to the fact that too many of us are fast asleep. That we have had God’s word in us for so long that it no longer truly “MOTIVATES” us to action. We have lost our Zeal.
WE are no longer Redeeming the Time as we were instructed to do. We need to rise up brethren and “Seize the Hour” take hold of our lives and let that zeal for the truth of God’s word once again motivate us to move forward. We need recognize the time we live in and get that sense of urgency that those who were instructed to watch were supposed to have. They were told to have their loins girded about them(ready to run) and to open the door “IMMEDIATELY” to the bride groom.
Luk 12:35 Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;
Luk 12:36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.
Luk 12:37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.
Notice, they are to be awake, alert and ready to ope the door when He KNOCKS and then He will eat with them. Isn’t that exactly what Christ says He is going to do to His people in Laodicea?
Rev 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Notice that those who by becoming zealous and repent are opening the door for Christ quickly and will be blessed by Him for their efforts. This is a special blessing offered by Christ to those of His servants who are watching, who are alert and not asleep, who are urgently(zealously) ready to open the door to Christ when He knocks.
Brethren I believe this is relating to being accounted worthy to escape what is coming. If you are awake, alert, prepared to move quickly to open the door then you may truly be accounted worthy to escape that which is coming on the world. But understand the attitude you must posses is one of willingness to follow Christ no matter where He leads even to the death. This isn’t a shortcut to escape the tribulation, this is preparation to be able to make it through the tribulation safely. You see 5 of the virgins of Mat 25 have enough oil/spirit to make it through. Yet they were not taken to the place of safety. Why not? It must have been that they developed that reserve of God’s Spirit too late.
They are like that virgin in Song of Solomon 5, they woke up too late, they made excuses until by the time they got up to the door their betrothed was gone. They didn’t redeem the time, they wasted too much of it and so were not prepared to open the door in time. They made the effort eventually hence they were developing the reserve of the spirit but too late to avoid the terrible times ahead but they at least gained what they needed to make it through the time of Jacob’s Trouble safely and into God’s Kingdom as first fruits.
Wake up now Brethren, Redeem the time and seize the hour while there is yet time!
