The bible says that most in this ERA of God’s church are blind;
Rev 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
I keep thinking to myself, how is it that this ERA of God’s church which has more of the doctrine and true Gospel of Jesus Christ can be blind? Well it also states above that they are in this condition BECAUSE they have all of this knowledge(they are rich and increased with goods) and say they have need of nothing. I believe that is means that they simply refiuse to look at what Christ is doing now as opposed to what He did in Philadelphia and therefore changing what they are doing, changing the emphasis of the work of the church to match that of the work of Christ.
In Philadelphia, Mr. Armstrong saw that Christ was opening a door for him to walk through with the backing of the entire church to get the witness work out to the entire world. This was their final warning about what was just ahead. This was the world’s last chance to change because after this in the next ERA of His church there would be no time for the kind of change that might have averted the disaster just ahead of us. Not for the nation at any rate.
But now in Laodicea, Christ says that He is working with the individual to get them to repent and become zealous again opening the door for Him to sup with them. All of the passages which refer to the end time church, the Laodicean church, indicate that He wants them to be zealously, urgently watching and preparing for His return.
Rev 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
The return that the church should be watching for and preparing for is not the resurrection but rather that moment in time when He gathers those of His church, that have been counted worthy, to a place of safety before the Great Tribulation begins.
Not many of our larger groups are emphasizing this message and because of this many of our people are blind to where they are in prophecy. In fact it seems to me that if the groups concentrated on getting their people ready for the 1335 or the day when Christ gathers His church, then their people might not see the need for all the new buildings or the “future” growth of an organization that is about to be cast into the Great Tribulation.
What needs to grow now, the emphasis that needs to be focused on now, is the very same thing that Mr. Armstrong told us to do just before He died. The work that He was doing via the open door of Christ was over it was time to put the emphasis of God’s work on the people and get them ready. Not the church as an organization but the church as a body of called out believers.
Start focusing on each of the members of the body of Christ to bring them to the point where they are fully invested in true discipleship growing toward putting on Christ fully! Capable of teaching and understanding, bringing their bodies under subjection;
(1Co 9:27) But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
The church groups need to be focusing on bringing the church to full spiritual maturity. Going beyond the foundation that was laid in Philadelphia and learning how to apply God’s laws in our lives so that we become spiritual Lighthouses(lamps) to the world. What if training and teaching became the focal point of all the church groups of the body of Christ.
Look at all the tools that are available today for teaching. Do you realize how easy it would be to hold Spokesmen Clubs just for an example online? With the video / audio tools available any of our people can be trained to speak and critiqued by being able to see them as well as hear their presentations. On Demand training sessions for the word not just sermons but TEACHING sessions.
If the church would truly focus on bringing each member up to the level of being a full disciple of Christ, if they would spend the resources they are being given to train us to teach others or at the very least to be fully conversant with all that we believe and truly able to give an answer for the faith that is in us, then we could all grow to that point in our relationship with God and Christ that we could truly be “counted” worthy of escaping what is coming on the nations of Israel and the whole world.
God is getting ready to spew Laodicea out of His mouth because of their Lukewarm attitude. An attitude that they have because they are blinded to the prophetic season that they are in. The people of Laodicea are in fact miserable and poor and naked because they are standing on the edge of a precipice and they do not even know it. They are about to be put into the greatest most terrible time of trouble ever to come on the world. The time of Jacob’s Trouble and they do not even know it.
Think about it brethren, if the church groups of the Laodicean ERA will not prepare you then you must prepare yourself. Work out your own salvation. Phil 2:12
Christ tell us to specifically pray that we might be accounted worthy to escape what is coming.
(Luk 21:36) Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
It is not wrong to want to escape what is coming. It is not wrong to prepare for it as long as our attitude is right with God. You do not have to stay blind and naked. You can change no matter whether your church group does or not. In the work that Christ is doing today, Church Groups today are irrelevant. Christ is working with the individual today(Rev 3:20) to get as many as possible ready for what is coming. ARE YOU……..READY!
