In this ERA of God’s church there are many different doctrines that are presenting themselves to our people. The “Winds of Doctrine” talked about in the Word of God are causing many to be “blown about“. Perhaps one of the reasons for both the different doctrines and the people who believe in them can be seen in the scripture below;
2Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
Brethren, our love of the Truth of God, our beliefs in the truth of God’s word is something that is given to each of us by God’s Holy Spirit. But if we don’t hold on to that “gift” we can lose it.
Rev 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
Even the most spiritually powerful ERA of God’s church lost that first love of the truth toward the end. Notice what that love of the truth that first love enabled them to do initially;
Rev 2:2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
Do you see what that love of God’s word did for these people of the ERA of Ephesus? The Zeal/effort that they put into the work, the patience they had in the face of tremendous trials, how they hated evil and did not put up at all with false apostles and the doctrines that came with them.
If we demonstrate in our lives that same love of the truth then we can overcome these “new” doctrines.
The Philadelphian ERA was told to hold fast to what we had been given. The foundational truths of God’s word that had been brought back to life in the Philadelphian ERA needs to be maintained during this Laodicean ERA of the Church. We are in danger of losing our crown if we do not;
Rev 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
When people begin speak lightly of what we learned and who we learned it from I see red warning flags begin to fly in my mind. You will usually see at that point a steady divergent from what we did in fact learn. That is when we must begin to take heed. That is when we must turn to the simple truths of God’s word and the simplicity which is Christ for our instruction.
If we bring enough of the scriptures together on any subject we can get to the truth of that subject or at least as much of it as it is needed for us to know without the references of learned men and Greek or Hebrew translations. The way it works is to love the word of God enough so that if a simple plain scripture goes against what is being “proved” then we should stop right there and not move forward. We need to let the word of God be our judge and not the reasoning’s of men or the learned opinions of men. The creativeness of the mind of man can undoubtedly allow us to reason our way out of any scriptural box that we do not like.
Look how Eve reasoned that it was OK to take of the Tree of Good and Evil because it was good to look at and it would make her wise. Yet the word of the Lord said no.
I find that whenever men use 1,000 words to explain what 10 words of scripture “really” means it is very likely that what they are explaining is not true. The bible interprets itself and it is truly rare that we need to “KNOW” how it actually reads in the original language to get at the truth of God’s word. Apply enough scriptures on the subject and the truth will come out even if the translation of a particular verse is marginal the others will explain it if you maintain you love of what is being said.
Take the word of God for what it says as if you were reading a book if something does not seem to agree then begin to look for other scriptures that also apply and the truth, the real truth. the plain truth, will come out.
Don’t let some MAN take your crown brethren.
