Lets see if we can discern the difference between the two.

From G4396 (“prophecy”); prediction (scriptural or other): – prophecy, prophesying.

From G1321; instruction (the act or the matter): – doctrine, hath been taught.

The above Greek words spell out the meaning of Prophecy and Doctrine. One is a prediction the other an instruction. While the one tells us what to look for the other tells us what to do. Yet neither is the end of the story. Notice;

1Co 13:8  Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
1Co 13:9  For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
1Co 13:10  But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
1Co 13:11  When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

If knowledge and prophecy cannot always be seen clearly till you are closer to the event can your “salvation” be tied to what you know or what you think is going to happen?

1Co 13:12  For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

Notice what Paul said:

Heb 6:1  Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

Do you see brethren, it is not how much Knowledge of the Doctrines of Christ or How perfectly we understand about prophetic events it is all about perfecting that knowledge by using it to become perfect.

Mat_5:48  Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

1Pe_1:15  But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
1Pe_1:16  Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Holiness and Perfection come only by how you use your knowledge. It is not and will never be about what you know but only about how well you use what you know that brings you to perfection.

Salvation is not about Doctrine or Prophecy it is about “putting on Christ”;

Gal_3:27  For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Letting Christ live in us by obeying Him and learning to think like He thinks and reacting like He would react, living in Faith that we are His and nothing can separate us from that.

This is going on to perfection. This is the only issue that is a salvational issue.
