The Laodicean ERA of God’s Church is faulted for being Lukewarm, for not having enough Zeal. Since I am always looking for ways to increase my own personal zeal this subject has been weighing heavily on me.

I mean why don’t we as an ERA have enough zeal. As I was choosing a sermon for this weeks Sabbath Fellowship, I came across a sermon by Rich Traver called “Have We Lost Our First Love?” It made me think about how I felt when I first heard Mr. Armstrong. Do you remember how it made you feel?

We were so excited about what we were learning, about the truth of God’s word that we wanted to share it with everyone. To our dismay and consternation not everyone wanted to hear it. 🙁

But that feeling carried on for some time. Remember how you kept bugging Pasadena for more booklets? I wanted them to just bundle them all up and send them out but policy was only 10 maximum if I remember correctly.

Think about that zealousness that we had back then. That is what Christ wants to see in us today. How did we lose that first love?

Well Revelation gives us a clue. Notice what it says to the Ephesian ERA of the Church;

Rev 2:4  Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
Rev 2:5  Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

Christ makes the statement that they have lost their first love and then He tells them to do the first works as if that was the way to get that first love back.

Perhaps we need to think about getting back to those first works we had, where we were so excited about the word. Christ said that we were lukewarm BECAUSE we were rich and increased with Goods and felt that we had no need of anything else;

Rev 3:15  I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
Rev 3:16  So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Rev 3:17  Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

We have had the truth of God so long that it has become “old news” too us. It no longer elicits the passion in us like it used to. Of course many of us are hearing the same old messages from the Pulpit each week. One person called it “Pablum Puking from the Pulpit”. So many of the messages that are being given are in fact the milk of God’s word. It is time we began to hear and respond to the “Meat” of God’s word.

We need to hear messages that correct and strength us. Messages that show us truly where we are in prophecy and what is going to happen next and why we need to get ready for it NOW!

We need to truly understand what is going to happen in the Great Tribulation so that we can prepare ourselves that we might be accounted worthy of escaping. After all Christ told us to pray always that we might be accounted worthy to escape Luke 21:36

We NEED to be MADE to understand that we are living in the LAST GENERATION of man’s rule over the earth. There is an urgency that is required of this generation because Prophecy is coming at us like a run away freight train.

We don’t have any time left and our zeal MUST rise to the occasion. Pray that God would once again give us that “Love of the Truth” that was once so much a part of our lives, that love that powered a tremendous ZEAL for God’s work and the truths that were being revealed.

It is what Christ is asking for when He knocks on our door;

Rev_3:20  Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
