Below is a quote from an article I viewed today. Read it for yourself and you can see that because the world misunderstands what God is doing and how our relationship with Him really is that they completely misunderstand what He is doing and how it really works. Take a look at this persons comments and I will try to unravel it below.

Do you have a sadomasochistic relationship with God?

It might sound shocking, but it’s quite possible that you do. Anyone exposed as a young child to Judeo-Christian religious concepts has internalized to one degree or another the idea of a big daddy God somewhere in the sky who keeps track of all our mistakes and misdeeds so that he can punish us when we die. This idea has given birth to a terrorized slave race that throughout all recorded history has happily taken orders from whichever clergy person or secular leader happened to be impersonating God at the time. While many religious scriptures extol the virtues of love and peace, our deeply ingrained master/slave relationship with our Creator does not promote oneness or harmony. It breeds hate, fear and pain and turns even the most promising among us into warriors for Yahweh, bombers for Christ, and suicide machines for Allah.

You may think that you have escaped this conditioning. But have you really? Even those of us not heavily indoctrinated into the idea of an external, judgmental God are experts in conforming our lives to accepted standards and pleasing outside authority figures as a result of the training we’ve received from our parents and schools. We may be unafraid of God, but petrified of a bad economy; unconcerned about the afterlife but scared to death to change careers; nonchalant about not going to church, but unable to leave an abusive spouse. Except for the very few who have achieved true spiritual enlightenment, we’re all in the same boat, secular slaves and religious slaves alike.

Notice that their conclusion about God is that He lives to punish us for our infractions of His laws and judgments. They seem to miss the point entirely that by living/keeping those laws our lives are improved in every way. They can’t seem to grasp what a terrible thing it would be to live an eternal life in rebellion to the laws that gave us the opportunity to have that life, the result is a being much like satan in perpetual rebellion against the ways of God.

This article presents very clearly the desires of Adam and Eve when they rebelled against the judgments of God. They wanted to decide for themselves what is right and wrong and you can see this attitude throughout the article.

They say that the slave/master relationship with God(their idea) breeds hatred, fear and pain(see above). But they fail to understand that it is a Father/Son relationship that God desires. They do not understand that this life, this physical life is a crucible that is preparing us for an immortal life as a (at the resurrection) “born again” Spirit Being in the Kingdom of God.

The Spirit of God enables us to NOT be afraid of the economy or the afterlife, living the way of life offered in the words of the bible empowers us it does not chain us down. When you truly begin to TRUST God with your life then the peace that passes all understanding is available to you.

God’s way of life is all about “giving” or loving others as well as God. When we can do that then we begin to want to be a good employee. I mean what’s wrong with that. You would be amazed at how God can remove you from difficult or dangerous situations by changing those situations in incredible ways.

God does not give us the spirit of fear or mental dullness;

2Ti_1:7  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

We learn to make proper decisions but we have the foundation of the laws and statues of God upon which to make those decisions.

This article would have you believe that those laws and statutes are chains that hold us down and keep us from being ourselves. You know what, that is true, but the questions they should be asking themselves is why is that so?

Pro_16:25  There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

God is our creator and Spiritual Father. He knows what is best for us and He means only the best for us but we as rebellious children do not want to follow the ways of our Father so we strain and rave wanting to do our own thing.

This life and the words of God in the bible are here only for one thing;

to prepare us for that life that we will have as Spirit Beings in the Kingdom of God.

But the world, those who have not yet been called do not, in fact cannot understand and so they rant and rave against the ways of God out of ignorance and misunderstandings.

I just felt I needed to say something here about the attitude being demonstrated in the quotation above.

2Ti 4:3  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2Ti 4:4  And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
