Acts 9:1-7 gives us an interesting insight into how God works with men. This is the story of what happened to Paul when He encountered Christ on the Road to Damascus. As you will see it gives us an interesting parallel in how God is using us in this work
(Act 9:1) And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,
(Act 9:2) And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.
(Act 9:3) And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:
(Act 9:4) And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
(Act 9:5) And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
(Act 9:6) And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.
Now you all know the story and most have heard about the pricks but for the sake of those who are new and may not have heard here is what is meant by kicking against the pricks.
The Greek word used here for pricks is “Kentron” ) an iron goad, for urging on oxen, horses and other beasts of burden
When these animals would kick back against the use of the prod the iron tip would dig in and hurt even more sometimes even damaging the animal if you were not careful.
The obvious point here is that God was prodding Paul’s mind to see the wrongness in what he was doing to the church and to recognize the truth.
Paul was resisting and being struck down and losing his sight was the result of his “kicking against the pricks” so to speak.
Notice the sequence of events that happened to Paul and their significance for us.
God was working with his mind to understand the truth.
Today Christ is delivering the knock message to His people He is opening up their minds to receive this message and act on it.
Next there was an external light that shined on Paul. Light is used to describe the words of God or the words of His written word.
So here we see that while Christ is working internally to open their minds to the truth we as His people are delivering the physical component of those words to His people so they can see.
It’s a one two punch so to speak Christ working internally and His church working externally
Next Paul was told to “RISE UP” he had to take action in response to the message. He was sent to meet a man in Damascus where he would be told what to do.
The corresponding action here is that a person receiving Christ’s Knock message would come to us for further instruction in what to do.
Notice the actions given him; Act 9:17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.
Act 9:18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.
His sight was restored first somewhat reminiscent of eye salve being applied don’t you think? And then He was Baptized and of course received the Holy Spirit. A sign of His repentance. His vision was restored so he could see/watch then he received meat so that he was strengthened.
God is working exactly the same way today as He did then.
People say that Christ is going to deliver His Knock message Himself without using a church to do it. And yet here it shows plainly how God works in these similar situations.
Something else we should see in relation to this is found in the 10th chapter of John
(Joh 10:1) Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
(Joh 10:2) But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
(Joh 10:3) To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
(Joh 10:4) And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
(Joh 10:5) And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
Now I want you to look carefully at what is being said here. His sheep do indeed hear His voice(Knock) yet as regards the church itself it is the porter who opens the door first so that the sheep can hear.
Someone must act as the porter in relationship to the sheep, the body of Christ. Another example of a physical component to Christ’s knock.
But lets look in Mark for a minute to see a bit on this.
(Mar 13:33) Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
(Mar 13:34) For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work(the work that Christ wants done), and commanded the porter to watch.
Notice here that Christ commanded the porter of His house to keep watch. It is the porter who essentially then opens the door so that Christ’s physical message is available to His sheep. Now let’s go on;
(Mar 13:35) Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
(Mar 13:36) Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.
(Mar 13:37) And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.
They each have a door of their own that they must open, they must have enough of God’s Holy Spirit to “HEAR” Christ’s voice.
The ministry of the Church of the Laodiceans have separated God’s people into various groups each under their own porter so to speak, but because the ministry of Laodicea are working their own versions of what they Think Christ’s work is they are deaf to his voice as a “porter”
So in order to deliver His Knock message to His people to get them ready for what is coming, Christ raised up a man to understand that message to deliver it to His people via his writings and to act as the porter for His people, so they might hear this vital end-time message. the Knock of Laodicea.
I hope that this will help you brethren to understand just how Christ works, How he works internally pricking our minds and hearts preparing us to receive a message and still using a physical component to deliver that message and to add the action component of being able to learn more of what they are to do. The explanation of the Watch Work and getting ourselves ready for Christ. This is the meat that is given to strengthen His people.
Repenting and coming to us or their ministers to receive instructions on what to do is the Rising Action that Christ requires of His people.
We are trying to give our people the eye salve that is recorded in Revelation 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
We are trying to do the work that Ananias did for Paul. He anointed his eyes so he could see. And then told him what God had said that he should do next. That is the part that the Ministry acting as Gatekeepers should be doing with their congregations because of the Knock work that Christ is doing.
We are doing the best we can but the groups have their own porters or gatekeepers so to speak. They need to make themselves aware of what they should be doing to Help Christ with His work in Laodicea. We are instructing the brethren that come through this site about the knock work that Christ is doing and asking them to spread the word amongst their brethren and their ministry so that as many as possible can have that eye salve that will allow them to hear Christ’s Knock and know what they need to do to open the door.
