Just what are we supposed to be doing now?
The Knock Message in Rev 3:20 is a call to, Rise-up, to wake-up to your condition and the condition of the world around you.
(Rev 3:20) Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him and will sup with him, and he with me.
In the last time phase of the church, what many call the Philadelphian ERA of the church, we were mostly fed the milk of the word. We were shown the foundational doctrines in God’s Word and told to obey them.
Then it was like God decided we were ready for meat and took us away from the “mother church” and scattered us out into the world to see what we would do with all that we had learned.
We are on our own now.
(Php 2:12) Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
But too many of our groups are still focusing their teaching on the milk of the word. They are teaching us to be “obedient servants” but they are NOT teaching us to be “profitable servants.”
It is not enough to just be obedient servants of God we must begin to take, the meat of the word and build on that foundation that we were given.
We must begin to become perfect as God is perfect.
(Mat 5:48) Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
We have to begin to live our lives as Christ lived His. He demonstrated to us by his actions the meat of the word.
Paul told us after we learned the foundational doctrines that we were to go on to perfection.
(Heb 6:1) Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
(Heb 6:2) Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of the resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
We are to leave the foundation and go on to perfection. What is perfection? Paul told us that even if we had all the gifts of the spirit and all knowledge if we did not have love it was to no avail.
(1Co 13:1) Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
(1Co 13:2) And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
(1Co 13:3) And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
Our people have become self-satisfied with themselves because they are viewing everything by the milk of the word.
They keep the ten commandments, Sabbath, Holy Days, tithes, etc. They are obedient and so do not see themselves in need of anything. This is generating a lukewarm careless attitude which God is reacting poorly too. He says that He is going to spew them out of His mouth if they do not change.
Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Rev 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
They are considered unprofitable servants because they are only doing that which was commanded of them.
(Luk 17:10) So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.
This is a very dangerous attitude to be in because God says that He will cast the unprofitable servant into outer darkness.
(Mat 25:30) And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
They are not seeing themselves in comparison to Christ. I rather think that they are not overcoming anymore, they are not even looking for that which needs to be overcome because of this Laodicean attitude that prevails.
Are you looking? Are you searching yourselves for sins, errors in thought that you need to overcome?
What have we overcome today? Are we aware of these hidden sins that we must overcome?
Think about it. Christ said that Hate was as bad as Murder.
How much and how often do you express love and concern to your neighbor, family or brethren in Christ?
Do you ever go out of your way to make sure folks you know are having a hard time are OK?
Do you pray for those who are sick or are you letting others do that?
Are you actively looking for ways to serve God? Are you badgering Him about it in prayer? Maybe He is just waiting for you to show that you want to serve.
Being a light to the world is far more than just keeping what we are commanded to do. It’s about showing the LOVE that has been given to us by His Holy Spirit.
I know that sometimes that can be scary because we don’t always know how people will react. But that is not our problem brethren. We are to plant the seeds of righteous love it is between them and God as to whether they take root or not.
We have to learn to resist satan and the lusts of the flesh that are constantly being used to tempt and distract us.
We need to dig deep to search ourselves thoroughly for those hidden sins and proclivities that are not of God.
For instance, how are your attitudes? How do you react to other people? Do people get to you?
Are you truly a virtuous person?
God sees inside of us and is constantly sending trails and situations our way to help us work through these weaknesses and to bring them to light.
We need to react to these challenges so that we are seen as overcomers to the very end.
Again the problem with many who are still being fed the milk of the word is that they don’t see anything wrong with them. They are doing all that they have been commanded to do.
It is going to take a major upheaval in their lives to open their minds to the truth of their condition. They truly are; wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.
Look at Christ’s Work in this time phase of the church and how it differs from the work in the time of the WCG. He wants us to see the serious lack in our lives. The Knock of Jesus Christ to Laodicea is a wake-up call. He is asking us to wake-up to rise-up and begin to change by opening the door to Him.
If we do that in time so that we can begin to add more of God’s Spirit to our lives and to develop the Zeal and Repentant attitude needed so we can be considered one of the Wise Virgins who had a supply of oil/spirit to enable them to make it through what is coming. And hopefully to even be spared from going through it.
We need to be thinking about what Christ is doing and what we should be doing to help him. The knock Message is a Wake-Up call brethren and we should be helping Him by sending out the “Eye Salve” that He says our people need to enable them to repent and acquire that Zeal they once had so that they can open the door for Christ immediately while He is still available.
This work that we are doing is saving lives in the long run by helping to wake up God’s people and to show them the condition they are really in. We really should be about our Fathers Business. We need to help CHRIST SEND OUT A WAKE-UP CALL TO THE CHURCH!!!!
