Today the Church of God is scattered all over the globe. Many are in small or large groupings of our people and can fellowship and gather together easily. But there are large numbers who for one reason or another do not have anyone to fellowship with.

The key scripture for today’s message is of course Hebrews 10:25 which says:

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Now notice that that verse not only commands us to assemble together but also to exhort one another as a part of the assembling process.

In fact the verse just before it says:

Heb 10:24  And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

So it would seem that one of the primary reasons to assemble is to help us provoke each other unto love and good works.

Another primary scripture that shows God’s thoughts and attitudes about this is found in Malachi 3:16-18

Mal 3:16  Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
Mal 3:17  And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
Mal 3:18  Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.

There is a special blessing attached to those who speak often to one another here in Malachi. Notice that verse 17 seems to indicate that the time frame and focus of this blessing is at the end time where he makes up His jewels.

Then notice in the third verse these jewels that He spared are returning probably as Spirit Beings at Christ return with the ability to discern between the righteous and the wicked.

Now that is quite a blessing and it is focused on those who have the attitude of fellowship a spiritual gathering together to talk about the things of God.

Going along in this same vein lets look at another scripture that relates;

Mat 24:42  Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
Mat 24:43  But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
Mat 24:44  Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
Mat 24:45  Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
Mat 24:46  Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
Mat 24:47  Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

Now notice something here we are commanded as servants to watch for the return of our Lord. That He is going to come in an hour when we think not.

Stop and think about that for a minute. Are we going to know when Christ returns for the resurrection? Are we not going to be aware of when the countdown to His return starts? Of course we are. From the time some in the church are taken to a place of safety, the countdown will begin 1335 days ahead.

So what event related to Christ’s return are we not going to be aware of?

When Christ comes in Spirit or in Person, whichever to gather His people to a place of safety. This is what we should be watching for, this is what we should be getting ready for.

Verse 44 quoted above tells us that we not only have to be watching but we must also be ready. We will look at that in a moment but for now notice that he calls those who are watching wise and faithful servants to whom He extends a special blessing to make them rulers over all His goods.

Do you notice how closely that resembles the blessing given to those who are fellowshipping with His people and talking about the Lord’s doings?

Let’s look at another set of related scriptures that show us what we are to be ready to do, in Luke chapter 12 sarting in verse 35;

Luk 12:35  Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;
Luk 12:36  And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.
Luk 12:37  Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.

Here is another verse that talks about God commanding His servants to be watching but notice here that He is showing them that they should be ready to open the door to Him immediately.

They are blessed for doing this an notice what He does for them that open that door immediately;

He makes them to sit down to meat and comes forth and serves them. Please do not miss the comparison to what Christ says that He is doing in this ERA of the Church.

Rev 3:20  Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

If we are watching, if we are fellowshipping(talking to each other about what is coming), if we have our loins girded about(as in zealously watching), if we are ready to immediately open the door when Christ knocks on it(we are alreay living a rightwous life in constant contact with the Living Christ through prayer study and a righteous zealous life style) then Christ will choose to come into us and sup with us(train us,feed us).

Can you see that all of this relates to Christs return to gather HIs people to a place of safety where He will feed us for 3.5 years preparing us for what is coming?

Notice what Luke 17 says about this event in time. the gathering of His people to a place of safety.

Luk 17:22  And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.

This is a day and event if you will that the disciples wanted to see but would not because they would be in the grave. We are all going to see the resurrection whether dead of alive that is a day we will all rejoice in.

So what day or event will happen that we might see that the disciples of Christ day will not/

this is the day when Christ will be revealed to some of His people but not all.

Luk 17:30  Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

It is my belief that Christ will knock on the doors of those of us who are watching and ready to open it and take us to a place of safety. this is not something I feel that is proven but all the scriptures above seem to me to relate to the same event.

The rest of Luke 17 show us the gathering of the people of God to a place of safety.

But the point of the study is about assembling ourselves together, why it is important and how we can do it sucessfully.

You see taken as a whole to truly assemble as God instructed we must be involved with out brethren in a two way flow of information and exhortation.

Many of our groups provide sermons online so those of us who are un-affilliated with any particular grouping of our people can listen and be fed.

BUT, is this assembling together? No brethren, it is not. You cannot exhort one another if you cannot talk to and listen to the brethren.

What we have here is a blessing because we can and do talk to each other as we are being fed and afterwards.

But we need to pray and exhort those of our groups who do not have this available to thier people to do so.

People need to be able to assemble together on the Internet as for many that is the only way that they can gather together.

We provide this service as a temporary stopgap. Until folks can find a group to fellowship with physically or to find another group that provides online fellowship where brethren can actually talk with and relate to others.

This is true assembly of the body of Christ. We must be able to talk with and share with our brethren in regular fellowship and gatherings.
