I spent some time this week refuting a false doctrine that was proposed by one of our groups. In doing so I came up against just what does it mean to have God’s Holy Spirit poured on everyone.

Take Israel for instance when He says that He will put a new heart in them and a new spirit does that mean they have no part in the reception of that spirit.

Jer 31:33  But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Jer 31:34  And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

How are we able to understand God’s Law? Why did Israel fail to understand in the Old Testament was it not because His Holy Spirit had not yet been given?

Rom 8:7  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
Rom 8:8  So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
Rom 8:9  But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Obviously His Holy Spirit must be available for them to understand the Law and be able to practice it.

So in the Millennium does everyone automatically receive the Spirit of God. I don’t think so. The process of receiving God’s Holy Spirit is surely the same then as it is now. One must see themselves in God’s eyes and repent, they must accept Christ’s sacrifice and be Baptized, then they must have hands laid on them to receive His Holy Spirit. I see nothing that would indicate to me that this would change at all. It is just easier because satan is not there till the very end.

Israel will be the Model Nation showing the nations of the world the benefits of living God’s way. The world will be full of the knowledge of God but still the individual must accept the sacrifice of Christ and Repent in order to receive His Spirit. That seems obvious to me yet some seem to think that Israel will automatically have God’s Spirit inside them. How can that be if they have never accepted Christ and repented?

Just kind of thinking out loud today. Does anyone have any other viewpoint on this?
