I read an article today about how we should all be more focused on uniting the Church. There were a lot of good scriptures telling us how we should be thinking an acting in the hopes that if we begin to act like a united church that God would in fact unite us again.

But you know when you think about it what was being said was a form of wishful thinking.

But it made me wonder just what is it that really unites the church.

Does doctrine unite the church? Think of all the ERA’s of God’s church that have gone before us. Did they all have the same identical doctrines? Not really. Most of the doctrines were brought back by Mr. Armstrong. But those in those church ERA’s were still part of the body of Christ, the Church if you will.

Does church government unite the church of God? No because most of the people of God did not operate on any thing remotely similar to the different ERA’s of the Church. Each ERA had its own needs as regards the government of God. And now we find ourselves scattered to the four winds and yet each of the different congregations of the people of God are still part of the church of God. Do you see why?

Look at what Paul tells us;

Rom_8:9  But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Do you get it? It is the reception of the Holy Spirit within us that makes us part of the body of Christ. The Church(the ecclesia) are those individuals who have the Spirit of God and Christ within them. Even in this woefully inadequate, divided state. We are in fact united.

God is using this division to test us to see what we truly believe, He wants to see for Himself whether we will obey Him or not. He wants to see just how much we “Love the word of God”

He is testing each and everyone of us to see who is ready to be protected and who will have to have the trials of the great tribulation to bring them fully awake.

Notice something that John told us;

Joh 15:1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
Joh 15:2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

Christ is the vine where we receive our nourishment but notice that it is the Father who is the husbandman. God the Father is the one who decides who will be protected from what is coming and who will not. In fact that is likely why only the Father knows when it is going to happen. Because as the husbandman, he has to decide when based on His work with each of us to bring for fruit. ‘

If you believe Ezekiel 34 then it will be God Himself, who gathers us to Him. He is taking his people one by one and getting them ready for the 1335 because that is the day that He will bring those ready to a place prepared for them just ahead of the great tribulation. The rest will have to earn their crowns the hard way while the work of the Two Witnesses is underway.

So remember, we are not united by Government or Doctrine the force that makes us one is God’s Holy Spirit within us. And God Himself will gather His people back together at the 1335 where one is taken and the other left behind.
