We had an interesting Bible Study last Friday night. It was the beginning of a series on Revelation and he wanted to set up the series on the church era’s with one on the word Angelos(angel or messenger) we learned that most likely the angel of the churches was the leader of these era’s to whom the message of Christ was to be delivered.

It is easy to see that Mr. Armstrong might be considered the messenger to Philadelphia. And he did an excellent job of bringing that message of the Open Door and the Gospel Witness prophecy to the church.

But who is the angel or messenger to the Church of the Laodiceans?  Even the use of the phrase church of the Laodiceans as opposed the the way it is phrased for all the others (church in Philadelphia for instance) show a multitude of congregations not all under the same human leader. So who is the Angel(singular not angels) in Laodicea.

There is a passage in Zechariah that might shed some light on that subject;

Zec 3:8 Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH.

Notice how Joshua’s (fellows) were brought into the story flow. The church has been scattered throughout the Laodicean landscape with many ministers who are presiding as leaders of several hundred different groups. the indication is that they are responsible to teach their people the message that Christ is giving to this era of the church. In particular they should be telling their people about the “seasonal” work that Christ is doing now.

But they are not doing that. Instead they seem to want to continue the work given to mr. Armstrong to do even though he said that he had completed that work. You see Christ is working with the individuals in the ERA of the Church and not the organization like He did in Philadelphia. But you don’t hear them talking about that as Christ’s work like we heard in Philadelphia. Oh you hear about the Lukewarm attitudes and such from some but not about the work that Christ is doing in the same way the we heard about it in Philadelphia.

I wonder why? It seems that to many of the ministry are afraid that members might begin to think for themselves. I am not trying to put down the ministry in general by saying this rather I want you to think about the fact that Christ is working with each of you. Knocking on your Spiritual door if you will to get you to repent and wake up. The organizations are irrelevant to the work that Christ is doing in this ERA. I think maybe that disturbs too many of the leaders of some of the groups as they lose control over what is happening.

Brethren, if this is Laodicea and the evidence certainly suggests that it is, then we are in the last generation of man’s rule over the earth. In fact the case can be made that Laodicea actually began about the time of Mr. Armstrong’s death when the work that he had been given to do was finished. That means that 28 years of that last generation have already passed. You realize that there was a generation recorded in the bible that only lasted 38 years. Those that wandered in the Desert.

Deu_2:14 And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.

Given that the time is so short that Christ is working with the individuals in the body of Christ to get them ready, should we be building large edifices like the old corporation did? The church that we came out of was focused on the world and they needed to demonstrate to the world the quality of the message they were getting. But in this ERA the work emphasis should be preparing the bride and watching carefully.

Something to think about brethren. Just saying………..!
