I was checking out a sermon to use this week about giving a reason for the hope that lies within us;

1Pe_3:15  But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

In the course of instructing us how to give an answer the concept arose – What is the reason that we have this hope within us?

I don’t believe that I have ever considered that question properly.

Why do we believe?

At first it is hard to give an answer to that. I mean everyone believes in something, but the why of it gets a little strange.

Our people who are part of the Church of the Laodiceans. Seem completely confident. They seem to believe so strongly that they don’t feel they even need anything else. And because of that they have incurred God’s displeasure. But isn’t it interesting that we always speak of them as if we are not included in them. Brethren we are all in the laodicean ERA of the Church of God and are subject to this kind of attitude if we are not very careful.

Given what is just ahead on the prophetic timeline we are all going to absolutely need to have unwavering faith in what we believe.

I can only give you what I find within myself as to why I believe so strongly in the tenets of my faith. You may have other factors that strengthen you faith and if so I would love to hear about them.

I began to think about this and I found that there were apparently many factors and they all seemed to act upon each other to lock down my beliefs into a cohesive whole that seems to me to be unbreakable. But how did it get that way and what started me on this journey and what kept me on it till this point in my life.

The bible states that only those who are called by God the Father can come to Christ. If you are not called then you will not understand and will not be a part of the body of Christ.

Joh 6:44  No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

So this is how it begins, God the Father begins to use His Holy Spirit to work with our minds. We are given understanding on certain issues and when we hear these things being discussed or preached then they come alive in our minds. Do you remember when you first heard the true Gospel preached? Do you remember the feelings that it brought out in you? How excited you felt how you wanted to run out and share it with everyone. Which of course didn’t work out well as not everyone was being called.

Christ said that His Sheep would hear His Voice;

Joh_10:27  My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

That is the beginning. As we begin to learn more about God and Christ about who they were and what they were doing with man. As we began to understand the Gospel of the Kingdom of God and our part in it. We continued to see God’s Plan being worked via the understanding given by His Sabbath and Holy Days.

From the true meaning of the Born Again Doctrine to the fantastic Millennial Reign of Christ on the earth, the doctrines fit together like the were meant for each other which in fact they do. Mr. Armstrong brought back all of the foundational doctrines that were needed by His people to form an unbreakable foundation upon which to build our spiritual lives. Each Doctrine of the Church support and fit within each of the other doctrines. Until truly from a physical standpoint there is no way to deny them.

But it doesn’t stop there. Mr. Armstrong and the WCG provided the physical Foundation from which to build a spiritual building. The church was broken apart by apostasy and cruel treatment. So that we could learn/apply the Holy Spirit the “Spiritual Glue” that we need to Grow Up Spiritually. We needed to learn how to stand up on our own. As a people going into another different age of the church suddenly we had no leader on whom we could truly depend. Oh we have and had good leaders but they were not together themselves and so did not have the ability to decide for all of us which way was right. And I believe that was intended by God.

It was time for us to decide what was right and what was wrong and act on it using the power of God’s Holy Spirit. No doubt in the process we have all made wrong choices as well as right choices but that is the way we learn. It has always been God’s way to teach us from our mistakes as well as from our successes.

So now we have been forced to draw closer to God, we have been forced to get back into the bible to determine what is right and wrong and to have our senses exercised to understand right from wrong.

Heb_5:14  But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Not all of us are exercising our spiritual selves to grow up. Some have out of fear perhaps or even the pleasure of it tried to keep the same church environment that we had going with world wide. But too many who have taken that route are not growing they have stagnated and have begun to feel safe and satisfied and in so doing they have become true Laodiceans and are in need of eye salve for sure.

Rev 3:18  I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

The reason we believe is because God has called us and taken the veil from our eyes so we can see the truth. We can understand how Christ became a doorway for us into the Kingdom of God and all that that entails. Now we have all of the interlocking doctrines of the foundation and are building our spiritual house using God’s Holy Spirit. That spirit which imparts to us the faith of Christ and grants through the Father true godly repentance so that our sins are washed away daily.

Sometimes it is good to think on these things and realize the process that we have gone though and are still going through that makes it possible for us to believe, to KNOW THAT WE KNOW!

If you haven’t done so you need to rise up on your feet and learn to stand on your own for what you believe. Zealously Repent and get right with God and Christ.

Rev 3:19  As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

That is what opens the door to Christ.

Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Open the door now before it is too late. Don’t be like the virgin in the Song of Solomon 5:2-6 who waited until it was too late to open the door.

Son 5:2  I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night.
Son 5:3  I have put off my coat; how shall I put it on? I have washed my feet; how shall I defile them?
Son 5:4  My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door, and my bowels were moved for him.
Son 5:5  I rose up to open to my beloved; and my hands dropped with myrrh, and my fingers with sweet smelling myrrh, upon the handles of the lock.
Son 5:6  I opened to my beloved; but my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone: my soul failed when he spake: I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer.

Yes, I believe, and now I see the more clearly why I believe and why I can believe so strongly. Humble yourselves right now. Ask God to direct your steps so you can know what to do. We have to get right with God. It is our heart and minds that God is interested in not how many spiritual riches we have. The doctrines of our church are true spiritual riches that even the angels have wanted to know about. BUT, they are not what is important they only form the foundation which we need to build on.

1Co 3:10  According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
1Co 3:11  For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
1Co 3:12  Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
1Co 3:13  Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.

Are you building your Spiritual House or have you decided that you already have enough and have need of nothing? The decision is yours, life or death may well be a consequence of that decision. WAKE UP AND OPEN THE DOOR BRETHREN and then you will really have a reason for the hope that lies within you.
