As a people we have become immersed in doing a special work that Christ wanted done. The Great Commission to the Church of God throughout the ages of the church eras has always been to take the Gospel message of the Kingdom of God to the world teaching them to observe all the things that Jesus commanded. This is of course still in effect.

Mat 28:19  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Mat 28:20  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.

Yet in the Philadelphian ERA of the Church Christ was doing a work that opened doors for the church to do a “Witness” work to the world and it’s Leaders.

Mat 24:14  And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

This was a prophetic work done near the end of time by one ERA of His Church that had been given a special commission and way to accomplish this work. Rev 3:8  I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. This scripture showed Mr. Armstrong that the church was being formed and empowered to do this work of Christ. This prophesied work that Christ Himself made possible. But brethren, that was for the Philadelphian ERA of the Church. Not for any other ERA.  An ERA in God’s church is a timed work for a specific church to accomplish over a specific time period. We are now in Laodicea a different time period, work phase and work that Christ is doing. Notice what Christ says that He is doing in this ERA of the Church;

Rev 3:19  As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Rev 3:20  Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Christ is not opening doors in this ERA, He is asking US to open the door to our minds and hearts to HIM. This means for one thing that the old work that we are so used to doing and supporting is completed. NOW we must be about the work that Christ commands that we do. We need to be watching both world events and ourselves for the prophetic triggers that tell us what is going to happen next.

Luk_12:37  Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.

Notice the command to watch. Also see that Christ says that those He finds watching will be blessed. It even indicates a situation where He is eating with them and serving them which is what He promised in Rev. 3:20. It has become a personal thing between ourselves and Christ. The church as in the organized church group has little to do with the work that Christ is doing in Laodicea. But notice that the large churches seem bent on continuing to do what Mr. Armstrong was called to do and finished. They should be about preparing the bride and doing the normal commission to the church not the special work. We have been trained to support a large work and by continuing to do that work they gain the continued support of many of our brethren. A support for a work they should not be doing. But the main point of the article is that we, the Church of God-the Body of Christ should begin to watch and to listen for Christ’s Knock  We need to be careful that we are not distracted by trying to help do a work that is not in line with what Christ wants us to be doing. Just as we see very clearly the work that Christ was doing in Philadelphia, we should also be able to see what He is doing in this ERA. Talk to your ministers perhaps they can see more clearly if they hear this coming from within their own groups. But in any case we should begin to do what Christ wants us to do watch and listen so that we can open immediately to Him when He knocks.

Luk_12:36  And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.
