Why don’t we as a group pay more attention to what Christ is doing in the Laodicean Era as opposed to what He did in the Philadelphian Era of the church? I mean we practically built a religion around the work that Christ was doing in the Philadelphian Era. You know, the open door and the church preaching the true gospel using those doors of radio and television in power never before seen in the worldview.
It seems like everyone understands that Christ is trying to get the attention of each of His people, but why? And why don’t the church groups latch on to the fact that He is doing, a work, and they should be helping? They should be finding out why it is important enough that CHRIST would do it Himself?
Christ told us that those whom He found “watching” would receive a special blessing at His return;
You Must Be Ready
Luk 12:35 Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;
Luk 12:36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.
Luk 12:37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.
Notice that these people are the ones that are opening the door for the Bride Groom. When Christ comes at the resurrection, He is the one opening the door. This scripture depicts God’s people who are waiting and “watching” for the bride groom’s knock. Did you catch that? They are watching and waiting for the KNOCK. Can you see how this ties together with the Knock message of Revelation 3?
Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Not only are we to be watching for his Knock so we can open the door immediately but when we do both passages indicate that He will come in and sup with us. The similarity of these two scriptures is not a coincidence, brethren. These two passages are speaking of the same event and time.
Let’s dig in a bit more to these scriptures. Look at Luke 12:35 they are to have their loins girded about and their lights burning. What is that indicative of? Zeal brethren. They are to be zealously watching for the return of the Bride Groom.
These scriptures bring up a couple of points of interest;
- The problem with Laodicea is that they lack Zeal and this is what Christ says they need to get to be able to hear His knock and open the door.
Rev 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
- They are watching for Christ, yet they are the ones who have to open the door, this event cannot be the resurrection.
So what are they watching for? Is Christ returning twice? Revelation 12 indicates that a place was prepared, for some of the church, a place of safety if you will.
Rev 12:14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
Can you see that this is what Christ is doing by knocking on the door of each of those who can hear him, who are in effect watching for Him? He is inviting them to come and sup with Him. He is gathering His people to a place of safety, and the Knock message to Laodicea is how He is doing it. Being taken to a place of safety is the blessing that is offered to those who are watching and who open the door immediately for him.
Remember the story of the sleepy virgin in Song of Solomon chapter 5?
Son 5:2 I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night.
Son 5:3 I have put off my coat; how shall I put it on? I have washed my feet; how shall I defile them?
Son 5:4 My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door, and my bowels were moved for him.
Son 5:5 I rose up to open to my beloved; and my hands dropped with myrrh, and my fingers with sweet smelling myrrh, upon the handles of the lock.
Son 5:6 I opened to my beloved; but my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone: my soul failed when he spake: I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer.
Our people are asleep and don’t know it. Our groups have not taught them the importance of the knock message because groups are irrelevant to the knock it is between God and His people. God measures the church right now at this very moment He, God the Father, is deciding who’ will be taken to a place of safety and who will have to go through the time of Jacobs trouble when satan is turned loose.
As a people, we need to rise-up now not make excuses as the sleepy virgin. We need to have our loins girded and have our lights burning. We need to zealously repent and begin to watch in earnest for Christ’s return to gather His people to a place of safety ALWAYS praying that we are accounted worthy to escape what is coming.
Luk_21:36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
